We had a lovely stay. The Snug is small but very comfortable, quiet and peaceful. The view over the bay from the Snug is fantastic and it's a 10 … More minute walk to the rocky sea shore.★★★★★ 6 months ago
It's also possible to hike to the top of Heaval (Barra's highest point) and to the Brevig standing stone from The Snug.
The kitchen is very well equipped with high quality cooking kit. The wifi is good and the chickens in the back yard can provide you eggs for breakfast.
The location is about 3km from Castlebay, where you'll find the island's main supermarket, cafes, distillery, the ferry port, boat trips, kayaks to hire, heritage centre, community shop, ev charge point (no pier with amusements, donkey rides or casino in Castlebay). Beware if cycling or walking to Castlebay, there is a significant hill to cross.
There's a bus stop near The Snug which will get you to most places on the island, including Castlebay. There are also various taxi services to get you around.
Mark was very pleasant and helpful and made every effort to ensure we had a good stay. -

Stayed one night here and really wish it was longer, house is in a lovely spot perfectly positioned to catch the sunrise. I arrived earlier than planned … More and Mark was super accommodating and let me in early. Snug is finished to a high standard and very well equipped only slight downside is that the bathroom is actually outside the snug in the main entrance, not too inconvenient though. Thank you for having us!★★★★★ a year ago

What a truly magical stay!! Our studio was beautiful & provided everything you could need. The view from our abode was amazing & we enjoyed our … More morning tea gazing out at the magnificent sea. Our hosts Bridgett & Mark were delightful & gave us lots of information about the island. We had the most splendid week & left feeling revived & rested. Simply cannot wait to return...thank you ❤️★★★★★ a year ago

This is a cute, quaint apartment. Ideal for 1 tall or 2 shorter people as the bedroom is tucked into a closet and only 1/2 the bed is full length - Great … More sitting area and well furnished kitchen to cook. The bathroom is set outside the main living area in the hall - i think it might be shared. It's a kneeling shower for tall people within a bathtub so you can have a lovely bath.★★★★★ a year ago
The owners were helpful and friendly and I would stay here again as an individual. The view is wonderful and proximity to Castlebay is a cheap cab ride or a 40min walk. We rented e-bikes and it was a perfect way to explore the island and Vatersay. You'll enjoy your stay here. -

Had a great stay at this amazing studio within the owners main house. Views from the room were outstanding & the parking was an added bonus. It was … More only a short drive to Castlebay and it’s amenities. Mark & Bridgett were extremely accommodating & nothing was too much trouble. Looking forward to our next visit…★★★★★ a year ago

Mark and Bridgett were fantastic hosts, The accommodation was lovely and clean. View from our window, overlooking the bay was spectacular! We had everything … More we could possibly need. Even the internet was remarkably quick! The supermarket and indoor swimming pool are only around the corner. Mark and Bridgett are full of useful island information, which made our stay even more special. If you are looking to visit the Isle of Barra, I would certainly recommend staying here *****★★★★★ a year ago
