We had a lovely stay. The Snug is small but very comfortable, quiet and peaceful. The view over the bay from the Snug is fantastic and it's a 10 … More minute walk to the rocky sea shore.
It's also possible to hike to the top of Heaval (Barra's highest point) and to the Brevig standing stone from The Snug.
The kitchen is very well equipped with high quality cooking kit. The wifi is good and the chickens in the back yard can provide you eggs for breakfast.
The location is about 3km from Castlebay, where you'll find the island's main supermarket, cafes, distillery, the ferry port, boat trips, kayaks to hire, heritage centre, community shop, ev charge point (no pier with amusements, donkey rides or casino in Castlebay). Beware if cycling or walking to Castlebay, there is a significant hill to cross.
There's a bus stop near The Snug which will get you to most places on the island, including Castlebay. There are also various taxi services to get you around.
Mark was very pleasant and helpful and made every effort to ensure we had a good stay. -
Stayed one night here and really wish it was longer, house is in a lovely spot perfectly positioned to catch the sunrise. I arrived earlier than planned … More and Mark was super accommodating and let me in early. Snug is finished to a high standard and very well equipped only slight downside is that the bathroom is actually outside the snug in the main entrance, not too inconvenient though. One Small Double Bed and A Two Seater Pullout Sofa Bed
The Todday Snug can accommodate up to two people and utilising if needed the two seater pull out sofa bed. The room comes with one small double bed 4ft wide and 6ft 3ins long (120cm wide and 190cm long) nestled perfectly in the snuggly bedroom and a John Lewis two-seater pull out sofa bed with mattress topper and high quality cotton white bed linen in the living room area, ensuring that everyone has a comfortable stay. This cozy bedroom is just over 3m2, yet perfectly fits a small double bed for maximum comfort. It has a luxurious Emma Hybrid Mattress, with Foam and Springs in Medium Soft & is rated as a Which? Best Buy to ensure an excellent sleep. High quality cotton white bed linen is fitted to finish off the indulgent look and feel. Its a cozy bedroom with a bed perfectly tailored to fit the room's dimensions. As the name suggests, the space is snug and intimate, with the bed accessible only from the door side, where one adult can comfortably sit on the edge. This unique setup emphasizes the snug and cozy atmosphere of the accommodation, ensuring a restful night's sleep in a space that feels like a warm embrace. There is a double sink, preparation area and all of the high-quality Joseph Joseph utensils you could ask for. To make your stay extra special, there is a Jamie Oliver dinner service - perfect for whether you're making a quick snack or cooking up a feast, this is one kitchen that will not disappoint!
Private Entrance
The Todday Snug provides the perfect combination of privacy and accessibility via the front door of the house , with its own entrance into the studio from the hallway of the main property. You can come and go as you please without disturbing anyone else and enjoy the peace of mind that your belongings are safe and secure.
Parking
Parking your car is a breeze at our self-catering accommodation. We have plenty of parking spaces for cars, bikes or any other mode of transport, so you can leave your car with peace of mind while you go and explore everything that the area has to offer.
Bathroom
The Bathroom is equipped with bath, heated towel rail and toilet area. There are a number of features such as mirrors, soap dispensers, sanitary bins, two pin electric shaver socket and of course a hand-washing sink. One bath towel, hand towel and face flannel are provided per guest to use during there stay.
Ferry Caledonian MacBrayne
Ferries are the most frequent means of transport to the Isle of Barra. Ferries run by Caledonian MacBrayne connecting Castlebay on the Isle of Barra with Oban on the Scottish mainland. The ferry sales once a day in each direction wheather permitting, and the trip takes about 5 hours and 15 minutes one way.
Airport Loganair
Loganair offers flights between Glasgow Airport and the Isle of Barra Airport if you'd rather fly (also known as Eoligarry Airport). The flight can be scheduled online and takes just over an hour each way. It is the only commercial airport in the world that lands and takes off from the beach which adds further amazing memories to your Isle of Barra holiday experience!!!!
